As many of you know Novell Forge is having some serious problems with the mailing lists (remember that we use their services).

We'll try to find a solution in these days and once we find the solution we will release the stable 0.6.0 release.

We are happy to announce the second beta of Jaws 0.6.0, this is a release that fixes many bugs users reported.

In this release we provide 3 *big* tar.gz files (jaws-blog-system, jaws-core and jaws-complete) and also the .tar.gz files for each gadget/theme.

* jaws-core: Include the core, core gadgets (for Admin) and two gadgets (Menu and Skeleton) and a default theme.
* jaws-blog-system: include the jaws-core and some extra gadgets (Banner, Blog, Chatbox, FileBrowser, Friends, Glossary, Menu, Phoo,Preferences, Search, ServerTime, StaticPage, Visitcounter, Weather,Webcam) and just one theme.
* jaws-complete: include jaws-core, _all_ gadgets and _all_ themes.

NOTE: Users who upgraded (from 0.5.x) or installed the beta1, need to reinstall again and re-upgrade again (from their jaws 0.5.x database, not 0.6.0beta1 database), we did some changes in the DB. Sorry for this but well.. that's why we are releasing it as a beta .

We are happy to announce the first beta of Jaws 0.6.0 (First of the Gang to Die).

This release is divided in 3 sections: jaws-core, gadgets and themes. It means that you need to download jaws-core to use gadgets, however the jaws-core doesn't have any gadgets (except those that are core_gadgets and Skeleton) or themes. So for example, if you want to use Blog, you need to download the .tar.gz and unpack it in the gadgets/ directory.

This situation (divide in 3 sections) will be a standard in Jaws for 2 reasons:

• Have small .tar.gzs (if we include the core, all gadgets and themes the size will be 5~6M.
• Have developers working only in gadgets and others working only in the core (or both).

At the Novell Forge page you can download the core.

You can find themes and gadgets in the jaws-0.6.0beta1 section we have in Novell Forge.

We will decide in this week when to release the final 0.6.0, and the final date depends on how many bugs we get this week, if we get no bugs we will consider it 100% stable!.

We have uploaded the 0.5.1 release (of 0.5.x series). This release fixes all and **_ONLY_** the bugs we found on Bugzilla database.

If you are using 0.5.0 and want to upgrade to 0.5.1 you just need to copy the directories, you **_DON'T_** need to upgrade/modify your database (don't run install.php or update.php scripts). But if you are new in this 0.5 series you need to read the INSTALL or UPGRADE files in order to update your old jaws installation or just the INSTALL file to install it.

We are doing several changes in Jaws. I'll describe them:

1. We are now at ForgeNovell, we moved from SourceForge to NovellForge, there are many reasons of this change:

a) Red tape in SourceForge
b) We need SVN (Subversion)
c) Novell folks are opened to give us any tools we require (like Trac).

2. SVN access:

a) Non developers (anonymous):


Password: anonymous.

b) For developers:


SVN will ask the passwor twice, for developers and non-developers.

3. Mailing list is moved to NovellForge. We moved our subscribers of SF
mailing list to NovellForge.

4. Jaws Beta: Beta will be released March 29. After two weeks (April 12 -15) we will release Jaws 0.5. We need real beta testers, users who can wait for the final release to have everything fixed. We will announce more info later.
